Our project examined ways to reduce food insecurity through the mechanisms of reducing food waste. Provide food insecure clients more fresh produce, that they actually consume, and that would otherwise be wasted.

Food insecurity and food waste are both epidemics globally and in the US. According to Rockefeller, we lose ⅓ of the food produced globally. Here in the US, ReFED estimates 72 billion pounds of food is wasted each year. As we know, there are 42 million food insecure people FOOD INSECURE in the US today.
